A little bit about Me…
My husband John and I have been married since 1978. John was in the US Air Force until he retired in 1994. Wherever he was stationed, I went with him. We even got to spend several years in England while he was in the USAF, and later returned to England with our children to do missions work.
Still childless after twenty-two years of marriage, John and I made the decision to become foster parents in 2000.
Today, we have two wonderful children, Alex (age 12 ) and Victoria (age 6), who both entered our home as foster children and were later adopted.
Because of the special needs that come with the role of being a foster parent (and now an adoptive mother), I made the decision to be a stay at home mother. The decision not work full time outside of the home has resulted in some “financial sacrifices” but they have more than worth it when it comes to being there for the children.
As a stay at home parent, I continued to have a desire to help out financially. I drew off my skills that I acquired when my husband was in the military and put my talent to work. I became known as “Rapsudsy” the clown. I have always enjoyed children and by using my talent in this area, I could help off-set some of the pressures associated with not working a full-time job. I get to be home for my children and take jobs when my husband can be there for them.
In my spare time, I enjoy bowling, horseback riding, writing poetry, swimming and making homemade crafts. My husband and I love to go on the mission field where we share the love of Jesus to those who do not know of His love for them. It is one of our greatest joys to pray for Jesus to heal Broken Hearts. Isaiah 61.
When I look back on my childhood and upbringing, I can see how the foundation was laid for my decision to become a foster parent. I was given love, respect and acceptance from two people who, although they were not my biological parents, treated me as if I was their own. I have always known that I wanted to help other children to know they are loved and accepted too.
